Any ideas?

Since Harrison's cross country season has ended and he doesn't have practice anymore after school, we decided to implement: Family Fun Night on Mondays. This Monday we took the kids to the mall to JUMP. They had a blast. Here are some pictures and a video.

So here is where I need your help.. do you have any ideas on fun things we can do as a family preferably that are not that expensive and which both a 3 year old and a 13 year old would enjoy? If so, I would love to hear them. thanks

while the weather is still nice.... Micah and I often go down to the plaza. I get a cup of coffee and he gets chocolate milk, and we walk around the park on the corner of JC Nichols pKwy & Broadway (I think). But its called Mill Creek Park and it has the huge fountain with the horses coming out of it. We walk around and check out the squirrels.

There's also a big open field in the middle of the park and people often bring soccer balls, frisbies or footballs to kick/throw around.

Its really a good time to go down there and enjoy all the fall colors.

Hmm..good question. Deanna Rose Farmstead was our #1 pick, but they close at the end of the month. There are actually quite a few nature centers in KC, too...there's a cool one on Troost...but can I remember the name right now? Nope. But they have cool workshops for kids, building birdhouses and things. I'll let you know when I think of the name of the place.

Lauren,
I have been thinking hard about this for the past few days... I used to watch two older kids and I had my two so there was a huge age difference between the four kids.... This is a hard one cause its starting to get cold so you are more limited to indoor places. Have you ever taken them to the plaza or Kansas city public library? Its right by the plaza! The childrens area is AWESOME!!!! beautiful view with the huge windows over looking the city! There is a coffee shop at the entrance AND you can take the coffee inside the library!!! The dvd selection there is AWESOME and better yet FREE!!!! something for everyone! There is always Monkey bizness in the great mall! I think it would be 14 dollars or so for your family and EVERYONE will have fun! you and Paul could get in and jump around!!! =) and there is a baby area. If its a nicer day there is the little downtown brookside area. Have you heard of the Reading Reptile? an awesome little family owned bookshop fun to look around in and there is a small playarea for the little ones... then in walking distance a toy shop thats fun to look around in and baskin robbins or the other way, the roastry coffee shop. lastly, there is always the free KC and BABY mags that tell you about the fun things going on in the area... actually DAILY! pretty cool. Hope this helps and sorry so long!!! =)
