Paul and I will be married for 5 years next Saturday. When he proposed to me, he promised a life of romance, commitment and adventure. He has kept his word. When I think about the last five years and everything that we have experienced together, I am overwhelmed. I am more in love with him today than I was five years ago. There have been so many times in the last five years that I have sat back and just watched in amazement at his wisdom, patience, compassion, and dedication. I have often thought how did I get so blessed to be his wife. Since he is the leader of our congregation, I have watched him deal with the many decisions, opinions and situations that he has come across. I am amazed at his ability to think through implications from multiple angles. He has the patience and steadfastness to listen to other's ideas pray and think through them while at the same time seek the Lord for the timing of when and how to implement. He has a healthy sense of the fear of the Lord and knows that ultimately he will be accountantable to Him. His eyes are on his Savior who sits on the throne. His passion is truly to point others to the KING of KINGS and help them usher His kingdom in their lives. I just want to say thank you, Paul, for your leadership in our marriage, family and our congregation. I trust your leadership. I see your heart and it is pure and beautiful.
For our anniversary this year, we are going to be celebrating Passover with three other congregations in our city. Someone asked me how I felt about the Passover celebration being on our anniversary. I responded by saying something like "It is what it is". But thinking about it now, I see it as a blessing because each year on our anniversary we spend time reflecting on the last year and then talk about our dreams for the next year. This year we are actually getting to live out one of our dreams of having congregations in our city for the first time come together and celebrate the Passover. We are in the beginning stages of transformation of our city and I am so excited to be apart of this significant event. Next Saturday, I will take time to reflect on how Paul continues to keep his promise of giving me a life of romance, commitment and adventure. But it will have a double meaning, as I also reflect on how the passover is such a beautiful picture of the Lord romancing his people, Israel, showing His commitment to them, and taking them on an incredible adventure to conquer their promise land.
