We made it to Highlands

Yesterday, we had a great travel day. Dassah did really well on the plane and slept for part of the way in the 3 hour car ride. It was so great to see Momo, Meme and Granddaddy. Meme made a delicious dinner and had the house all ready for us with lots of fun surprises.

We woke up today and had a relaxing morning. Dassah and I enjoyed fresh Georgia Peaches for breakfast that we bought at a fruit stand yesterday on the way up the mountain.

The boys went outside and explored the woods behind the house and found this salamander. They made a little house for him so they could keep him.

We then went into town to visit Momo at Mountain Finding, which is the thrift store in town where she volunteers and the boys came away with two huge castles. And I came away with this cool small vintage suitcase.

Once we got back we had lunch and then we were off again.  Meme and Granddaddy stayed back with Dassah and took her to the pool.

Paul and I went off on an adventure with the boys in the jeep. Our First Stop was Dry Falls. You can actually walk behind it and go into some caves.

Harrison found this really cool rock with micah on it.
The next stop was the Gem Mining. The boys each got a bucket of sand to go through to find gems. It was very exciting and they both came away with some good treasures.

this was Noah's favorite one

We also got them these rubberband guns at the gem place. We felt the unique outhouse was a good stop to take a picture with their new guns although none of us dare to go in it.

The other funny find we found at the gem place was this sign:

The last stop was in the movie theather in Franklin the next town over from Highlands to watch the new cars 2 movie. It was very action packed (james bond version in cars).  Overall it was good.
We decided not to have popcorn at the movie and instead made some once  we got back with Meme’s popcorn machine. Noah loves it when they start popping real fast.

After the kids were in bed, Paul and I played 3 games in Sequences with my parents .  It has only been our first full day here and I feel so refreshed already. Tomorrow we go boating  so I better get to sleep.
